Oh here we go again. Anyone feeling lucky?

It should be pointed out to those less experienced users that this is a Development version so is quite likely to have problems.

Being a sucker for punishment I suppose i'll try it out and see how it fares.

Well it seems to work. I think it might still have issues fetching work as it didn't seem to want to fill the cache (only 1 days worth). Once I suspended the project that had a few tasks it was happy to go off and ask the other projects for work.

Proxy servers are broken. It doesn't find it at start up, but will if you click okay on the proxy settings (which are populated).

It seems to remove cuda tasks from memory when you suspend them now, although haven't confirmed if it frees vram.

Seems happy to stop tasks either manually or when exiting. Installed on one cuda host and one non-cuda host, both running under XP. Will give it a few days to see how it goes.

Its a tough job but someone's gotta do it!

It seems to be fetching work, my main problem is that the projects seem to be running out of work (Seti and Einstein). And then Seti was down for their regular tuesday maintenance.

They have already done a fix for proxies and long term debt, so we might be seeing 6.6.6 soon.

Maybe I will try that after you give it the good housekeeping seal ... :)

I show Einstein with 61K queued ... of course, their display is hard as heck to figure out ... :)

A clear case of too much data ...

Cuda machine was down to 1 cuda work unit running, cpu idle. Network access only between 1-7am, cache set to 1 day.

The non-cuda machine was on its last 4 work units and didn't want to request any work. Network access any time, cache set to 1 day.

It just won't build up a cache. If it built up a cache it wouldn't have a problem. Even with the long term debt fix I still think work fetch is stuffed.

Have rolled the cuda machine back to 6.5.0 and the non-cuda to 6.2.19. They both immediately wanted to fetch work when I allowed network access.

Well, as I read the Dev mailing list and the proposals out of UCB I get the impression that they want to make major changes in the "rules" of work fetch. Sadly, they don't seem to be much interested in the input of some of the experts in this area as to the implications of the rule changes.

I can only hope that they get their heads out and make a build that works ... though I will admit that 6.5.0 works well enough in the interim ...

6.6.6 was released for the Mac and 6.6.7 for Windows.

Windows version corrects proxy servers (broken in 6.6.5) and display of the Tasks tab which crashed on some machines.

It doesn't honour network time restrictions (and according to boinc_alpha mailing list cpu times either). This has supposedly already been fixed.

I can't comment on the work fetch stuff as its running down the cache from the earlier boinc version. It would appear that it doesn't want to fetch any work (and thus keep the cache filled) at the moment. Will give it a bit longer and see what it does, but I suspect it will only fetch work when it runs dry.
