Last evening I installed as so offen the latest updates for my Linux 64 cruncher. Checking an hour later or so I realised that all my GPUGRID WU were gone?! Even worse, my WU list now contained a dozen or so compute errors.

What happened? I quickly found out, by looking at the results, that the last automatic update also installed a NVIDIA driver 177.80 killing my 177.82 CUDA capable driver. Reinstalling these solved the issue.

Avoid this pitfall if you can!

Kind regards

Alain

Thats pretty interesting.

I was originally trying to install my 177.82 drivers, and I was unable to.

I cannot figure out how to install as the root user in Ubuntu 8.10 (working on figuring that out)

So instead I installed the drivers that linux popped up with their auto updater.

The linux provided drivers installed easily and my CUDA device works great!
