Hi there,

before you say, its still written down or use the search button, im a english noob. i can write some words (like here) but to read and understand most posts here, i need a lot more practice ;)

first ill tell you things you may want to know to help me:
btw. i bought this pc with posted settings from a online store, no preferences was set by me.
- Motherboard Name Abit IP35-E
- CPU Type QuadCore Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300
- CPU Clock 3000.0 MHz (original: 2500 MHz, overclock: 20%)
- CPU FSB 400.0 MHz (original: 333 MHz, overclock: 20%)
RAM
- 2x Module G Skill F2-8000CL5-1GBPK 512MB DDR2
- Memory Bus 480.0 MHz
Display
- Device Description NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT
- Memory Size 512 MB
- Installed drivers nv4_disp 6.14.11.8048 - nVIDIA ForceWare 180.48
- GPU Clock (Geometric Domain) 650 MHz (original: 650 MHz)
- GPU Clock (Shader Domain) 1600 MHz (original: 1625 MHz)
- RAMDAC Clock 400 MHz
Memory Bus Properties
- Bus Type GDDR3
- Real Clock 900 MHz (DDR) (original: 900 MHz)
- Effective Clock 1800 MHz
- Bandwidth 56.3 GB/s
- 2D/3D GPU: 650 MHz, Shader: 1625 MHz, Memory: 900 MHz
Operating System Properties
- OS Name Microsoft Windows XP Professional
- OS Version 5.1.2600 (WinXP Retail)
- OS Service Pack Service Pack 3
BOINC
- Version 6.4.5
- wxWidgets Version: 2.8.7
CUDA
- acemd_6.55_windows_intelx86__cuda.exe

and now the problem i have:

- acemd is using 25% of the CPU all the time its running (makes one core only for cuda)
- i have massive lags while its running (i am not playing games, just using firefox or i am looking at my desktop image)
- its only using 54mb of video-memory
- its still in memory with 0 cpu-time (WinTaskManager) after suspending

i tried:
- old drivers (cuda 2.0 release with driver version 178.28)
- new drivers (180.60_CUDA_XP_beta)

any idea?
if some german people read that, please write me a PM with answere in german language. thank you.

@all
I hope I'm adressing all issues in the remaining part of my post, in German. Any further discussion should probably stick to English.

[German]
- 54 MB RAM auf der GraKa: ist ganz normal, größere WUs nehmen auch mal 80 MB

- suspend-Problem: hast du "leave apps in memory while suspended" aktiviert?

Any idea when 6.56 is returning, so that the excessive CPU use in Windows is solved?

That is why my CPU usage went back through the roof! <slaps forehead>

There's no official word on this yet. I wouldn't expect it before the end of the holiday season, though ;)

Big thanks to [B@H] Kokomiko (PM'd me), Nowi (PM'd me) and ExtraTerrestrial Apes!
You'r messages was very helpful and i learned a lot about grafic card's.

Now i know why i got a lot of problems when Cuda running.
For myself i noticed, a 9600GT 512MB is not a card which i schould use to run Cuda applications. So i'm done with GPUgrid and seti-cuda until i bought a new grafic card.

See you
Maik

Did you already try GPU-Seti? I've run it on a 8600GT, which is at least a factor of 2 slower than your card and I didn't notice any lag. Could be worth a try, although they're still in a rather early phase of beta tests.

MrS

The chatter over there is that you can get corrupt displays, locked up computers and other bad things with some tasks.

Take a gander at the NC forum with the messages with CUDA in the title before you decide to jump in there ...

Just my opinion ... for what it is worth ...

I personally did run about 11 tasks and they all seemed to validate so I am not sure how much is what ... my test was very limited so I may just have lucked out on the tasks tried ...
