The difficulty is that the project seems to issue the same message for at least a half a dozen issues including no work in the queue (though I just looked and there is 400+ waiting, of course I don't know if they are of the right type). Several things you can try ... | |

first at all Paul , a happy Chrismas and thanks for your Replay! Depending on the message from the server... the client selects a delay ... for some it will use a slowly increasing delay on each failure until it reaches 24 hours because there is the possibility that the client might get some work. For other messages, the delay goes to 24 hours immediately so that the clients do not "hammer" the server trying to get work when there is *NO* chance of them getting work. A long time ago on SaH we had just this situation on a regular basis. The project would have a problem and when work DID become available so many people tried to get work at the same time, few got anything at all. This is why so many of us try to talk people down from one project mania ... if one project does not have work, others will ... soon enough you will get work from the first project. I can't change the page to show my signature (and I posted a note in the appropriate forum) but, *IF* you could see it, or went on almost any other project and found a posting (like this thread where I have posts you can see that I support multiple projects (there are 30+ currently active and nearly 43 that have been active this year)). Anyway, with the new GPU capability there are new issues on keeping it busy though I will say that it is looking like my problems have mostly been solved and I have been getting work issued on a regular basis (just got another task with no manual intervention making this number 5 I think since they hav been fixing the issues). But, this is why I am so interested in at least one more project releasing a GPU application so that I can get work from whichever is issuing work. I would add SaH, but, don't feel much like supporting Dr. Anderson and I am trying to get more projects over my historical SaH "earnings". ____________ | |
