If you don't ask for work you don't get any.
When a computer is not actively crunching and returning work for a project, the client only checks in with the project ONCE every 24 hours.
If the scheduler replies to the client it does not have any work for it at that time it will check back in again 24 hours later. Rinse and repeat and no wonder you haven't had any work for a week.
However if you hit your Update button every ten minutes or so, then you have a very good chance of getting work which will keep your PC busy for the next 4-10 hours usually. When it returns that task result, it has a good chance of snagging another work unit. So the PC constantly gets work.
So that you don't have to manually keep hammering the Update button, you can script the same process with the boinccmd utility bundled with every Boinc installation.
I have been returning at least 3-15 ATMbeta tasks a day since they supposedly "ran out of work"
On Linux it is a extremely simple process. I just run this in a Terminal window.
watch -n 900 ./boinccmd --project https://www.gpugrid.net/ update
You can script the same thing in Windows with PowerShell or Task Scheduler. |

You will find zero jobs available if you click on the server status above. :) Some people dream about jobs. |

over the last 2 days I have received about 30 tasks from the project. many of those were "_0" brand new tasks (not re-sends). this is because I am asking for work fairly often, about every two minutes via an auto update command that Keith posted.
tasks were slowly being generated. but there are so many people asking for work that you'll never get one if you don't ask all the time for new work. you'll be stuck always asking when no work is available, not when work IS available. the only way to increase your chance of catching it when work is available is to ask more often. you have to manually intervene and do that yourself via a script because BOINC is not setup to do it for you. BOINC will lengthen the work fetch on subsequent failures instead of keep asking on the same interval.
since I haven't received any work in the last 12 hours. it seems right now no work is truly available and you'll only catch some resends right now. but with BOINC you will only get work if you ask for it. and if you're not doing anything to ask more often then it's no surprise that you aren't getting any work. the project doesnt just push work out instantly when it's available, it just sets them out on the table and waits for hosts to come by and get it. if you're first to get it you will show up to an empty table.

I didn't know this. Thank you for explanation. I expected when other projects like Asteroids, Cosmology or World Community Grid have always work, then GPUGRID will have as well.
Any time I just allow tasks from those projects, it gets a bunch of tasks to do, but GPUGRID is different.
Thx again. |

So 2 days after the script setup - so every 2 minutes requesting update and no tasks. 2 wks ago, I usually got 1-2 tasks for 35-45days but now, still ZERO. it must be something else. like CUDA or so. |

as was said. no tasks are available right now. you can't get something that doesn't exist.
always check for task availability at the server status page (same for any BOINC project): https://gpugrid.net/server_status.php
you're not doing anything wrong. no one has gotten any tasks for the past few days. just keep the script running and you'll get tasks when they are available. also be sure that beta/test tasks are enabled/allowed. most of the tasks available recently have been beta.

Same story here. Windows 11, Nvidia GPU, no work for at least a week no matter how often I update. |

Current Server status on 31 May 2023 6:53:03
Currently no unsent tasks remaining, last two tasks in progress.
Both screenshots taken from GPUGRID Server status page.
I guess Project is clearing Work Units caches.
I hope in order to new Work Units to come next. |
