With a PC on which I recently installed Windows 10, I have two problems when running GPUGRID.
The problem with the graphic driver crashing (nvlddmkm) is being discussed in the "Number Crunching" thread here anyway.

What I'd like to know now is: once in a while, the system shuts down by itself and reboots right thereafter.
So, when I set BOINC to start together with Windows, I could theoretically make GPUGRID continue in such a situation.

However, the problem is that normally I use the NVIDIA Inspector to limit the GPU temperature to 60/61°C. From what I have seen, normally the GPU would run at a much higher temperature (which I don't want to happen).
Fact is, that the NVIDIA Inspector cannot be set to start together with Windows; and even if this was possible: it needs to set the values manually.

Can anyone give me advice if there is a way to handle this problem? Can I set somewhere else a GPU temperature limit so that if the system shuts down and reboots, this limit is observed?

my recommendation is

https://efmer.com/download-tthrottle/

there you can set a maximum threshold temperature to power down the PC when exceeded. I use this tool for emergency shutdown only although it has a throttling function as well. But for this purpose I run MSI afterburner, keeping my GPU temps well below a 70°C temperature limit.

Both programs can be configured to start automatically after reboot.

Okay, just to be sure: if in Afterburner the GPU temp is set to say 60°C, this temp will remain set also after automatic restart of Windows and Afterburner?

Yes it can auto load a profile at system boot.

An option might be to lower the voltage and power limits in Afterbuner to achieve the desired temperature at a given fan speed. This allows the chip to continue running at full song within those limits vs starting and stopping the app all the time.

There are also options to change the fan speed at given temperatures.

yes that is correct.

I use both TThrottle and Afterburner because my GPUs sometimes went into an endless loop for whatever reason (probably an application or driver error) and the temperatures went up despite Afterburner trying to lower the clocks. In those rare cases, a second "watchdog" program that shuts down the entire system is a great idea … and it actually saved my cards a couple of times. So I strongly recommend that to everyone.
