I just started using my 9800gtx+ and have not yet finished a work unit. System has a pair of opteron dual core type 275 with Vista 64 (4 cores total).

Observation: Sometimes I see exactly 4 running tasks includeing the GPU unit. Other times I see 5 tasks running also includeing the GPU unit. When 5 are running the "GPU % Complete" seems to increment just fine but the cpu time rarely increments. With only 4 running tasks the cpu time merrily increments on all 4 tasks. I assume this is all normal.

Question: What happens if I start using graphics: either playing a game that uses the GeForce board or simply displaying the BOINC graphics for various projects I am running. Can the 9800 gpu still use it's processor and do it's BOINC thing?

Question: Messages shows the co-processor (CDUA) is recognized, but nothing shows up in estimated FPU or integer performance that I can see (BOINC benchmarks) Are any benchmark statistics available to estimate performance of nvidia processors?

..TIA..

1) thats just because of bugs in the beta client, will get smoothed out as we go along in developing.

2) BOINC will get approximately 1/2 f the video card, and your game will use the other half. This will cause a significant loss in framrate in your games. Most people suspend BOINC while playing.

3) No, there are currently no benchmarks for the video card. (I do not know if there will be)

Just remember, this is the first project to use a GPU. All 3 aspects of BOINC platform are being worked on at once; the application, the client and the server side code.
