I'm not sure if anybody has noticed, but since the NVidia driver version 384.76 it says that it has CUDA 9.0.

I noticed this a long time, but in all releases notes of drivers still indicates support only CUDA 8.0. It seems that CUDA 9.0 is mainly for Volta, though some of the features can be used on Pascal and even earlier cards. Maybe ACEMD3 (whatever that is) will call for improved drivers at some point, even if not immediately. The trend in folding at least is towards "deep learning", which benefits from new cards and drivers, and maybe that applies to GPUGrid also eventually.

I believe the way this works, is ... Cuda 9.0 support is baked into the drivers, but the Cuda 9.0 toolkit hasn't been finalized and publicly released just yet.
