We, the users, contribute to your research tens of thousands of Dollars, Euros Pounds per MONTH in Hardware, Maintenance, Electricity yet nothing or very little comes back.

It is known that scientists have little inclination to talk, share, discuss, with mere mortals but surely in these circumstances we are entitled to ask you to do so.

The success of your own project relies on it. https://gpugrid.net/forum_thread.php?id=4584

Don't speak for all of participants and don't be proud of the fact that you invested in this project. If you actually a volunteer, you do it for free and shall not claim for it some kind of "satisfaction".
If you can't get the desired response or reaction, that is not a reason for such attacks.
I saw this isn't the first time of such a reaction on this project's forum, when someone unhappy trying to threaten to leave the project "with all his teraflops" because "It's not like good old days". It sounds so childish.
If you want intelligible dialogue, keeps your emotions to yourself.

I have no problems with this project whatsoever, I just don't run it all the time because I game on my machine as well.

As for the staff:

As my grandpa said to my mother all the time:

"Don't expect somebody to do something" You should never expect someone to act a certain way or pay you back for what you do as well. Some words to live by in life as I say.

So for the staff, my respect goes out to them. They can do as they please so long as this website is alive. If it dies I'll be sad :(

I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just trying to give you some wise words I've gotten from other's, as well as my own personal views.

@Aleksey and Logan:

sorry that I cannot agree to what you are saying.
I don't think that justified complaints should be called "attacks", and "Don't expect somebody to do something" may not always be the proper approach.

What - would you guess - is the reason why many crunchers have left GPUGRID within the past few months?
Part of the answer is certainly expressed in my recent posting:
http://gpugrid.net/forum_thread.php?id=4584&nowrap=true#47364

Or, look at this:
http://gpugrid.net/forum_thread.php?id=4561&nowrap=true#47331
no reaction from GPUGRID side so far, and I'm afraid there won't be any - neither today, nor tomorrow, nor next week, nor next month.

And this is exactly what definitely many crunchers get annoyed about: NIL responsivness from the GPUGRID people.

I am doing CPU crunching for some other projects, too, and also there I am reading a lot in their forums. Whenever a cruncher brings up an issue, you can be sure that someone from the project people reacts within a few hours; not always is the problem solved right away, sometime it can't get solved at all. However, the cruncher can be sure that someone there deals with it.

And this is what I see completely lacking with GPUGRID: a minimum of responsiveness from the GPUGRID people.
I am aware that they may not have the same size of staff like other projects have; but believe me, a mutual feedback, at least to a certain minimum, is essential for keeping a project alive.
A project of the magnitude of GPUGRID definitely needs to perform "customer care" to some degree. Doing nothing is the worst option.
Once crunchers get the feeling that the project people are not the least interested in what the crunchers are thinking and saying, then somehting is definitely wrong.
Sorry to say this.

There is nothing wrong in having pride and satisfaction in doing good work.

There is also nothing wrong in pointing out shortcomings and wanting things to improve.

I have been crunching here for over 8 years, and I can tell you that this project was run better in early days, than it has been run recently.

Who is being childish and emotional?

What I am telling you is simply a statement, not a rant.

Don't you see the difference between pride for their work and pride for money, which was spent on this work?
Topic starter explicitly writes about the second case.

He expressed his claims in such manner, as if this forum is some kind of financial pyramid, in which people have invested over the years, and now it finally collapsed and none of them nothing received.
It sounds like this. And this is idiotic way to convey their resentment.

And I have nothing against the fact to point at obvious problems, but not in such manner.
This rant sounds more like a threat to leave if nothing has changed, rather than as justified resentment.

Perhaps first we should to wait for someone from project team will be able to answer what are the causes of lack of feedback, before writing such hysterical tirades?

What difference does this make? Money doesn't grow on trees. You have to earn it.(unless you steal it or get it from the government). The fact, that someone is willing and able to make the contribution, is a good thing and should be commended, not mocked. Without these contribution, in whatever form (money, computing time, etc.), this project would not continue. It's called philanthropy.

And what is wrong with wanting accountability? If people take your money or other resources for an expressed purpose, they should use efficiently and wisely, and not squander it. You do have the right to demand that.

It would be nice if the project team would provide us answers, and soon.
