Did anybody but me recognize that Microsoft installed the former optional "Diagnostic and Telemetry service" on ALL Windows 7-machines with the latest "Quality"-Rollup? After you brought it to my attention I've checked my Windows 7 and this service is present, however I used to install even the recommended updates. I've checked the contents of the "Quality Rollup" and Microsoft doesn't explicitly states that it contains this service (only security fixes). However, it does not mean that it's not in this package, as they might consider it as a security fix.

I think this is meant with: "This Security Monthly Quality Rollup also includes "improvements" and fixes from previous monthly rollups."

According to M$, tracking and reporting back of your activities is a security issue. Apparently they feel that if they can't track what you are doing and put it all in their database, you are not safe.
