Is there a way to limit what cuda capable GPUs are being used? I have 2 cuda capable cards and I just want the second card to be used for analysis. Using both makes my linux desktop a bit choppy.

Details:
opensuse 11
2 x 8800GT's
Phenom 9850

I don't think this is possible at this moment :-(

My desktop experience (especially videos and musik) was also quiet choppy when I started two months ago.
But it got better over the time. I'm using the Ubuntu Intrepid beta, so there are a lot of improvements coming in every day and hence I can't name what improved my desktop performance.
Right now I'm running PS3GRID on a 8800GTS, Kernel 2.6.27, Nvidia driver 177.80, BOINC 6.3.14 and of course the PS3GRID app 6.47.
All together the desktop responds fast again, no lags in music playback and only very few when playing videos.

Maybe you can update these core components of your system, or upgrade directly to openSuse 11.1 beta 2
Might help...

In principle, I believe that it should use always device 0, but I am not sure.
Please finish few workunits, using only ONE GPUGRID WU at the time, so that we can test. If that's the case you might be able to attach the display to the second card.

you could try to stop BOINC, then enable SLI, then restart BOINC, that way BOINC will see only one GPU...

Currently you can only do this by limiting CPUs to 1 as Max CPUs in your preferences, of course that means running no other boinc tasks.

I have made suggestions we need separate limits for GPUs. Also requested was a way to specify which GPU in multi-GPU systems to use. I'm still not sure if that is possible, but it will be investigated.

It has been noted and these may be a future enhancement.
