Anyone know why every 6.47 app on linux now gives me a compute error.

You are failing also with 6.44. So, there must be a configuration error.

Any ideas what the configuration error could be?

Can you tell us a little bit more about your computer. It looks like you have Ubuntu installed?

It's Ubuntu 8.04 with a PNY 256Mb 8800gt. Using the 177.73 driver installed by running the script "NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-177.73-pkg2.run". Running Boinc 6.3.14.

Ok, swapped the cards and the errors moved with the card. So now I have the PNY card not working in windows.

Card worked fine for about a month and only started having problems in the last few days. Might need to look at replacing it. It seems that way. Could you run 3D Mark 2005 or 2006 for a couple of hours, if the card is in the windows PC? If that fails the card is probably broken, if it doesn't fail.. well, that won't tell us much. There's also an artifact tester included in ATI tool or ATI try tool, can't remember which one. It runs some fur-stuff and scans for calculation errors and might be a better test than 3D Mark. It is only a 256Mb card, has that got anything to do with the issue? I don't think so. MrS ____________ Scanning for our furry friends since Jan 2002

Card looks cooked. PC kept crashing after a few mins of running 3DMark.

Ouch... Well, at least you know now there's something wrong with the card and not with your setup... ;)

A final comment: could you take a look at the temperature of the card? GPU-Z is a small utility which does the job and doesn't need to be installed. If it's above 90 - 100°C the fan or it's regulation may be defective, which in turn may have killed the card. If it's anything at or below 70°C the card ran perfectly within specifications.
