I finally got around to installing BOINC 6.3.10 and attached to GPUGRID to utilise my new ASUS EN9600GT, but all I'm getting is errors like the below....

Looking at the stderr_out for a wu shows
<core_client_version>6.3.10</core_client_version> <![CDATA[ <message> Incorrect function. (0x1) - exit code 1 (0x1) </message> <stderr_txt> # Using CUDA device 0 # Device 0: "GeForce 9600 GT" # Clock rate: 1600000 kilohertz Cuda error in file '..\force/vdw_texture.cu' in line 127 : feature is not yet implemented. </stderr_txt> ]]>
Any ideas what the problem is?
Live long and BOINC!

Can you post the output of the messages tab after you started BOINC?
Does it show the name of your card, or does it show Coprocessor: device emulation (CPU)(1)?
Are you sure BOINC is not installed as a service (Protected mode)?
Which drivers do you use on that computer?

I had an error like then when I switched video cards, and Windows reverted back to old drivers. I am currently using 177.92 for my 8800GT, which also should work for your 9600GT. |

Could only find 177.83, so it is installed (had to uninstall previous version first otherwise I had continual resets...). It now appears to be running OK, but screen updates are now 'jerky' - but I suppose that should be expected with the GPU running flat out. ASUS SmartDoctor says the temp is at 51°C. |

You could try 177.84 from the CUDA download site, maybe it will get better, but I think with a 9600GT you'll have to live with slow screen updates if GPUGRID is running...

My 8800GT is slight jerky as well, but only on certain programs -- BOINC seems jerky but Firefox does not. I've read that the effect is much less on higher-end video cards. Something you'll have to live with for now (but you can pause GPU-Grid if you need the best performance for occasional day-to-day tasks). |
