I get "Computation error" under tasks for any PS3GRID tasks.

With the following configuration:

Application version: 6.43 (cuda)
BOINC Version: 6.3.10
GeForce 8800 GT
GeForce Drivers: 177.92 (beta)
Windows Vista Ultimate (32bit) w/SP1

Status log from a clean boot:

At which point the tast reports: Computational error

Other CUDA application run fine (Folding@HOME, CUDA demos, PhyX, etc.)

Read through a number of threads, but nothign stuck out at me.

I did see the out of memory comments, so re-tried from a clean boot with other BIONC projects suspended, with the same results.

Suggestions welcome.

"Coprocessor: Device Emulation (CPU) (1)"

This means BOINC is not detecting your card as CUDA capable hardware. This happens when you install BOINC as a service under Vista. So far the effect has only been reported with Vista 64, but it's reasonable to assume it will happen under Vista 32 as well. Install BOINC and tell it not to run as a service / restricted user in the advanced settings.

Hi,
I just start here and get 4 WUs. They all crashed with the following messages :

Any idea?
Thanks

Hi Thierry! :)

Do you still have BOINC installed as a service on your Vista computer?
If yes, this may be your problem.
At BOINC startup do you see

CUDA devices found
Coprocessor: device emulation (CPU)(1)
?
If yes, just re-install BOINC, and make sure to click on Advanced in the installer and uncheck the "protected application execution" field.

Then BOINC should show your graphics card at startup and not the device emulation!

Good luck! ;)
Stefan

PS.: What happened with the BS site? Was Chris playing around with the server? ;)

It works :-)
Thanks

Of course, the graphic card (8600GTS) fan is running as crazy and the screen is slower. I suppose this is normal.

I will try also with my other comp when it will be back to live. It's a vista 64 but I have only a 8500GT on it. The result will probably not better as this one.

Thanks again (as always ;-))

I'm glad it's working now for you, but please have a look at ths forum thread in the FAQ forum.

Your 8500 GT will sure be too slow for GPUGRID and you might also get problems with the 8600GTS to meet the deadline, but of course you can give it a try...

The slow screen is normal for slower cards, but I don't notice a real slowdown with my GTX 260...

Apparently it will take 36 hours to complete a WU.

And the GPU is around 57°C. Is it not too high? Well it's not the GPU temp, it's the ambient temp. It's 80°C for the GPU.
