Hi, I have looked at the logs. People have quit the previous team, removed it and created another. The new team being new has zero credits. new team id = 672 gdf

Sorry but I for one never quit the team.
ID: 2132 | Rating: 0 | rate: / Reply Quote
I didn't quit either. I thought it was impossible to remove a team UNLESS the founder chose to do so?
ID: 2137 | Rating: 0 | rate: / Reply Quote
The team founder as administrator of a team can remove members from a team. Contact your founder as for why you were removed.

Hi, I also belong to UK BOINC Team (team id 62), and I NEVER!!! quit the team. The team just appears to have vanished on it's own accord!!! ____________ Down with the Kredit Kops!!!

You don't have to quit, the team founder has the option # Remove members This is the same as you quiting or leaving the team.
ID: 2142 | Rating: 0 | rate: / Reply Quote
You don't have to quit, the team founder has the option The thing is both founders are called UBT - Simon, yet they have different user ID's, the UBT - Simon that we know has a list of active projects, has a website listed in all his account info, and shows his computers, the UBT - Simon on the "new team" has only ps3grid, no website and hides his compters(s). UBT - Simon (user 179) Founder of original team. UBT - Simon (user 5969) Founder of the "new team". ____________ Down with the Kredit Kops!!!

You don't have to quit, the team founder has the option Are you sure that it is not the team founder that created another account and tried to move the team to the new account erasing it the team by mistake? Have you contacted Simon? What does he says? gdf

Hmmm... Maybe some sort of team hijacking like described here on the BOINC forums?
ID: 2149 | Rating: 0 | rate: / Reply Quote
Are you sure that it is not the team founder that created another account and tried to move the team to the new account erasing it the team by mistake? Our forum admin has emailed "our" Simon The "new" Simon originally joined our our team on Friday as UBT - Timbo (our normal team founder), something I think that "our" Simon wouldn't do!!

The team founder as administrator of a team can remove members from a team. Contact your founder as for why you were removed. This is what APPEARS to have happened: The original team founder (on your project) DID NOT remove members...someone else seems to have made a founder change request, by fraudulently using my BOINC username (UBT - Timbo). The foundership was then transferred to this third party (as it "appeared" legitimate) and this third party seems to have deleted members from the team. It would appear that no-one validated the CPID of the person requesting the change to see if it matched *MY* CPID... (which one can easily check via BOINCstats or elsewhere...). So, the UK BOINC Team has lost credits because someone fraudulently claimed to be me, when they were not.... I hope someone from PS3grid can resolve this and re-instate our team as it was.... before it was hijacked.... One assumes you *know* the email addy and CPID of whoever made the founder change request...so you can find out what has happened.... I hope you will let me know soonest, by email please, what you plan to do about this. regards Tim Founder, UK BOINC Team

So, the UK BOINC Team has lost credits because someone fraudulently claimed to be me, when they were not.... According to the Project overview for "UK BOINC Team", the yesterday's drop (i.e. former UBT credit) was around 1.5-1.7 mil. C$T. Can be also seen on graphs on their detailed stats page. One assumes you *know* the email addy and CPID of whoever made the founder change request...so you can find out what has happened.... Not necessarily, I personally do not believe, that Berkeley devs already got convinced enough to log such details somewhere... (neither publicly nor in system logs). ----- Did something (I mean, in the PS3 database) happen to the team with ID=62 in the last days? I was trying to display the team details and have seen a bit of garbage - with note "Database Error" at the top of the zeroed page. Trying to check the Team member Movements for team id=62 in PS3GRID on BOINC Synergy stats page resulted in some error ("Warning: mysql_fetch_array(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/setisy/public_html/stats/team-movements.php on line 235 / line 274"). Trying to check the team id=62 members incorrectly listed all PS3Grid teams, suggesting the project is missing such team. BOINCstats site direstly responded "Team ID doesn't exist in PS3GRID or doesn't have any credit." The team definitely WAS there, with non-zero credit, at least on 11.1.2008, as can be seen on one archived page: UB Boinc Team, 10 proud members, nice 3,763 C$T :-) And no plain evil user should have powers to clear its credit. Thus IMO something other happened here too. Or did the admins already played games with the DB? Peter

The plot thickens: | |

The plot thickens: That Sigma-7 is the real Sigma-7, and is now listed as founder of new UK Boinc Team on PS3GRID, confusing this eh? (the account info for Sigma-7 match his Boincstats info) However the fake UBT-Timbo, that became the fake UBT-Simon is now known as xblade ____________ Down with the Kredit Kops!!!
ID: 2182 | Rating: 0 | rate: / Reply Quote
The new, and as it appears fraudulent, "founder" of UBT has now changed his name to sigma-7. Furthermore he has left UBT for The Scottish Boinc Team. Now this might be quite innocent (several of the evicted UBT members are sheltering with us while this storm blows over) but given the further name change, the hidden computers and the misfortunes of UBT, I fear otherwise.Just to confirm, sigma-7 is a genuine member of UBT. He was the last genuine member of the "new" team and I think had team foundership thrust upon him when (UBT-Timbo)->(UBT-Simon)->(xblade) left the team

The new, and as it appears fraudulent, "founder" of UBT has now changed his name to sigma-7. [...] given the further name change, the hidden computers... Sigma-7's computers are visible on PrimeGrid, Spinhenge@home and ABC@home - two C2Quads and one C2Duo Merom. If it is important anyhow. Peter

So Sigma-7 is real and that's good for UK Boinc Team. Giannii, please do the right thing and give UK Boinc Team them their credits back!

I apologise unreservedly to sigma-7. His bona fides seem to have been well established: It seems that a big boy did it and ran away compounding his malice by leaving him as founder of the new but destroyed UBT team.

[...] And no plain evil user should have powers to clear its credit. Thus IMO something other happened here too. Or did the admins already played games with the DB? I did not express myself precisely: it might be a coincidence, that someone created the UBT team again, it might be his/her intentional step after the fraud... But except someone having direct access to the physical database (project admin, some technical event or software bug) there is currently no known way a fraudalent user could completely reset (founder, members, info, credit, etc.) or even damage a team. And the team with ID=62 seems to be damaged. Peter

So what's this? # Remove team Allowed only if team has no members admittedly, this is from the seti@home team admin page but I would think the same applies to PS3Grid.
ID: 2198 | Rating: 0 | rate: / Reply Quote
# Remove team It applies to CPDN and Einstein as well as Seti. I suspect it is Boinc wide feature. If you are founder you can remove the team once you have got rid of the unwanted members. Quite possibly deleting a team leaves a damaged entry in the database. This seems to be a case of sabotage rather than fraud but either way credit restoration would be the right thing to do. I see that UBT is back & running with most of its members back on board but rather a lot of credit missing. ____________ The Scottish Boinc Team

And the team with ID=62 seems to be damaged. OK, well, you've got me :-) I've forgot this eventuality - team founder can really delete his team. I've also deleted a bunch of them in the past during the testing. So, I apologize and take my words back: the founder can reset & damage his team. Peter

ok, | |

ok, Thank you. It is refreshing to see a project admin listen to the users and do the right thing for some unfortunate genuine supporters of the project. More CPU cycles coming the way of this project from me soon.

ok, Hi GDF, Thank you SO MUCH, for taking the time to investigate this problem and to have made some time available in your schedule to make a fix. I sincerely hope that other crunchers on PS3grid recognise your helpful and positive attitude and that they can have full confidence in continuing to crunch data for you on ps3grid. On behalf of UBT and all of it's 2,000 or so members, please accept my sincerest best regards for your prompt and efficient assistance. Tim Founder, UK BOINC Team

I will add 1.7M credits to the database for the UK BOINC team.Hi GDF, This was indeed a prompt reaction to the situation! Anyway, GDF, what's the outcome of the investigation, if it is somehow clear? Was it the "usual case of missed team foundership takeover request", or rather something BOINC-web-SW related (in conjunction with the recently reported BOINC web interface vulnerabilities)?
