I have attached to the PS3Grid through add projects in Boinc user screen. I have 2 8500GT 512MB nividia cuda driver and boinc version 6.2.18. Boinc is currently crunching superlink techion. Will it just switch over to PS3Grid and start using my GPU's.
Thanks for any advice

Right now, your Boinc installation will not recognise the 8500GT cards as crunchers, so they will not be used. To crunch on this project you need to upgrade to Boinc v6.3.8 which uses GPU's where available.
However, the 8500GT will be very slow on GPUGrid and may miss deadlines. Better with an 8800GT if you have one.

Start first the client manually as
./boinc
from within the boinc dir
and then the manager as usual.

It wouldnt work. Boinc would encoter a problem then ask to close. I tried using the windows 64 6.3.8 client with my vista 64 machine.
Guess I will have to wait for a offical release. Any ideas when then that is? |

Yes, sort of. I'm told, as of earlier today, it will be no later than next Wed. I'm not sure what other fixes they are working on besides ours and mine. |

Have downloaded and succesfully instailed 6.3.10 and I have the latest cuda drivers but PS3GRID wont start any work. Is it because I have 2x 8500GT 512MB. Would it work if I got a 9600GSO or 9800GT which I can not do until next month. Any advice on how to get these running.
Cheers |

What version NVIDIA CUDA driver do you have, you did not state ?
Did you reset project ? One of the files the proejct downloads is not compatible between app versions 6.30 (cuda 1.1) and 6.41 (cuda 2.0). BOINC will not automatically upgrade this, you need to reset project which will delete all old files for PS3GRID and downlaod all new files. This may help.
You should then get app 6.41 for windows which is cuda 2.0 compatible. This will work with drivers 177.84 and BOINC 6.3.10
note to all:
Please list a version number, saying you have the latest does not help others help you, especially with versions being release every few days. A new version may have just been released and your statement is then false. Others can better help answer your question if we know the exact version you have. Thanks. |
