For moment there I thought you meant AMD GPU support for GPUGRID.

Hey.

I dont understand whats this is about.
This is not for GPUGrid. But Donate@Home?
Do they work together or what? I mean if its the same project it doesnt really matter what i choose?

And yes..i thought also for a moment there you meant AMD GPU support for GPUGRID.
:(..

Donate@home is a side project for us at the moment. All resources generated by donate@home will go into gpugrid.

So it is gpugrid in a sense, just it's so new that we preferred to create a new project.

It really matters in the sense that the goal
- With GPUGRID you are crunching units for the scientific simulatios.
- With Donate@home you are crunching to generate BitCoins. The BitCoins will be converted in real money used to mantain the proyect.

I think is important to have both projects separated. I don't want to start an argument about economics in virtual money (I'm going to ask to an eminence in economics), but there are still many lights and shades.

So that means that donate@home does NOT make scientific work. The homepage (in Gpugrid-design) is talking about scientific work, so it's simply a lie. Also the 'about us' button links to gpugrid, where scientific work is explained.

So, if you are not able to explain in clear, non misinterpretable words, what a project does or does not, it's not worth to share it. This is not the spirit of science, what I expected to find at BOINC projects.

On the other hand you should have a very close look on to you application. Donate and MW, both projects have openCL apps for nVidia and ATI, both apps are much, much faster on ATI. And a look into the ATI-thread gives words like 'don't expect too much', 'bad performance' aso.

We want to get at least a further student to work for gpugrid and maybe donate@home will allow for that.
In this sense is related to biomedical research. The bitcoin network itself is a nice experiment though and we are working on ATI this way.

The projects will stay separate. They even have different servers.

But it's very necessary to make that clear on the main page of the donate project. Reading the words there leaves the impression that with donate a scientific work is done. And that is not true. So correct that and make clear, it is a commercial project, but by running this project gpugrid is supported with money.
Even pressing the 'abot us' button links to gpugrid and not to the developers of bitcoin, and this is a camouflage, nobody sees what's behind that.

I understand that you need funds to keep your project running and expanding, but not that way. Use clear words and exact details, otherwise people will leave this project.

Biomedical research

We are a research group in computational biomedicine devoted to understanding the interactions of small molecules and proteins which is essential for designing new drugs. Our activities pursue scientific and academic goals to advance scientific research ...

These are the first words to read on the donate page. Do you really mean that this gives the impression to crunch for a commercial project?
Will you really tell me that donate is "a research group in computational biomedicine"?

This is what we do. What is the project is below that and I have just made it even clearer now after your suggestions.

If you would like to propose further things write there. The idea to have two projects is that there are two forums, so we can keep the discussion in the other one.
