Sorry if there's an answer already said in a post somewhere to my issue but I've searched far and wide.

I'm getting constant errors.

Win 7, Latest drivers, no overclocks at all, good temps.

My computer should be visible to all.

Also things I've tried here:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=245441

Thanks!

How did you let boinc detect 2 cards:
a) SLI
b) PhysX
c) Extend monitor

A & B doesnt usually work for me. Im using C.

And if you still have errors after using C, rma you card. I have a 2 pcb card that i rma'd and reasoned this out - that i cannot crunch on both cores.

I used SLI.

For the extending option do I need SLI off? Do I need a dummy plug?

Thanks.

The connector can stay but disable it thru Nvidia control panel. And yes you need a dummy plug.

Connector? It's just one card...

Turning SLI off isn't an option or a solution I'm willing to use on my main rig.
I'm sure people use this card for gpugrid without turning it off.

It is probably the issue though if I think about it. I usually get 1 out of 4 valid.. the 2nd gpu is probably erroring WU's while the 1st isnt. (if you get what I mean.)

Maybe a solution will come some day.

Thanks again!

On Boinc’s Advanced View, Advanced Preferences,
What are your selections for “Use GPU while computer is in use” (Under the Processor Usage Tab) and “Leave applications in memory while suspended” (Under the Disk and Memory Usage Tab)?

If you select not to use the GPU when the system is in use, and you have Leave applications in memory while suspended, it could be that when the tasks start up again they are randomly allocated to a GPU (well actually allocated to the first available GPU in order of Boinc preference, so that the task that should finish first gets allocated first). In my experience when using 2 distinct cards if they try to run on a different GPU, the tasks fail. I suspect this might be the case on your GTX 295; especially as it is the two board version - I dont know for sure what your settings are so this is conjecture, but the same thing could happen via other settings along with suspend, snooze or snooze GPU.

If you suspect one GPU is more liable to failure than the other, perhaps you could disable one in Device Manager and find out, but you would lose sli.

Just reinstalled my OS to win7 (non beta). Got all new drivers and still errors.

Any flag I can add to only use the first gpu?

btw:

“Use GPU while computer is in use” Yes, on.
“Leave applications in memory while suspended” No, disabled.

What is correct?

Phys-x = off
Multi GPU = on

Always work regadless of driver version and windows version (xp,vista,win7):
extend monitor

Partially work (depends on driver version):
PhysX = ON

Doesnt work:
SLI/Multi GPU = ON

So I turned SLI off, made sure physX was off and connected the hdmi side of the card to my monitor as well as the dvi side. (so it's like having a dummy plug)
Also I extended my desktop.

Still errors. Maybe my card is trash?

Do you actually see 2 monitors in Nvidia Control Panel?

btw, are your errors concentrated on 1 gpu or both.

My issue before is that, gpu0 is good but gpu1 is bad.

Yes I see two monitors in the Nvidia control panel.

I'm not really sure if it's on both GPUs or not.

I tried setting my client to the old WU's only. Completed two which made me hopeful but the rest are errors.

It's kind of odd that my card is erroring for no reason. =/

Sorry for the double post.

I just tried F@H on this card. Set up two clients and got them both running... sorta.

Gpu 0 was great.

Gpu 1 I noticed was slow and thanks to the detailed log I found that it was erroring and getting gpu unstable messages.

So all in all it seems my 2nd gpu is dead for computing. I guess it still works for gaming...

Now its time for rma. btw, is your card bfg? whats the bios version? Before I rma'd, it has a diff bios version.

Now it looks something like this:
GPU0: 62.00.45.00.01
GPU1: 62.00.45.00.02

The card is from EVGA. Not sure if it has a bios update or how to check or flash.

Seems that I didn't register the card within 30 days so I don't have the lifetime warranty. Apparently I got the 1 year warranty because of that and it's long gone.

What exactly were the F@H unstable error(s)?

Sorry not sure, I've already reverted it back to a single gpu install.

The first gpu is even doing well enough that I could overclock my shaders with no issue.

if that does not work then update Boinc to latest Beta.

THe most common problem with the second card not being picked up can be one of two things, one is the need for a dummy plug (should not be needed with a 295, I did not use one on mine, but it can be needed, or a second monitor) the other is not extending the desktop to the second card.

Or, as already noted a bad driver install ... usually you should see the install actually do the same actions two times ...

Oh, and if you are going beyond 6.10.18, the current recommended, I suggest only 6.10.45 which is the one I am using ... .46 and later have severe GPU problems that have not been addressed in any changeset I have seen to date ... so, .51 has no corrections I know of to the issues I reported (as did others) with the post .45 versions ...

Hello,

I made many update but I always have the same problem.
Only one GPU is running on my GTX 295.
Somebody told me to disable Multi GPU mode in the Nvidia Control Panel but there are many options in this panel.
Could someone show me where is it exactly by sending me a screen capture ?

Thanks !!

Right Click on Desktop,
Click NVidia Control Panel,
Click on Setup Multiple Displays,

Select to use 2 monitors, and extend to second monitor.
You might need another monitor pluged in (I don't have a GTX295, so dont know for sure, and that would be motherboard dependent), or an omni-cube (KVM switch).

For anyone looking on, he uses XP x86 SP3.
I only have one Vista system with multiple cards, so no pics from me.
