nVidia's GT300 specifications revealed - it's a cGPU!

Even though it shares the same first two letters with GT200 architecture [GeForce Tesla], GT300 is the first truly new architecture since SIMD [Single-Instruction Multiple Data] units first appeared in graphical processors.

What a horrible article! Not even once do they get back to their gancy headline and explain what they actually mean by "cGPU".

I think Gipsels post summarizes it pretty well: it looks like a solid expansion of GT200 architecture. I'd guess it could be compared to Core Duo vs Core 2 Duo: much faster for certain code, otherwise pretty similar hardware (just more of it for the GT300).

And 2 GHz for such a complex chip? Sure, with water cooling and 300W. Otherwise I wouldn't expect more than 1.5 GHz for the shaders.. it will be power-constrained, just as GT200.
